About

Sandra Blair – Founder & Editor

I’m an editor, founder, and enthusiastic barista right behind CoffeeShan. I was born and raised in Belgium, but have spent most of my life in the United States. I like light roasts made using a Clever Dripper or Kalita Wave but won’t complain as long as it’s freshly ground coffee. When I’m not writing about coffee, you’ll find me having fun with my kids, outdoor or reading books about national politics as well as history.

I started CoffeeShan because I believe that everyone should get access to coffee expertise. I mean many people drink it every single day, so why not really love it?

We have a small team and our aim is to help fellow coffee lovers experience and luxuriate in beans from around the world while learning how to brew the most delicious coffee right at home.

John Miles – Author

Like many people who live on North America’s west coast, I love good coffee and the outdoors.

Is there anything as cool as returning home from a long morning walk to a fresh, piping-hot cup?

I have a graduate degree in physical chemistry, but my real enthusiasm has always been writing.

At Coffeeshan, I can merge both, delving into the amazing science of coffee.

I originate from a country where people drink home-based coffee and where Nescafe designates all instant coffees available.

Therefore, think about my very first encounter with, say, Hario V60…Yes, it absolutely was love at first sight. Today I’m an average coffee fan and a big coffee lover.

My favorite brewing methods are the HarioV60 as well as traditional espresso-making. However, regardless of my country’s prolonged tradition of Turkish coffee adoring, I somehow can’t stand it. That’s just too dark, even for me personally.
